ABOUT THE AUTHOR

SHARON D. BERRY

Educator. Advocate. Founder. Author. Woman of Resilience.

Sharon D. Berry is the Founder, President, and Chief Executive Officer of Project Re-Direct / Youth & Family Services.

Her life’s work has centered on helping children and families find stronger paths forward. With more than ten years of experience as an
English instructor and fifteen years as a guidance counselor, Sharon combined her background in education with a deep commitment to advocacy
when she founded Project Re-Direct in 1996. Over the years, her responsibilities have reached far beyond organizational leadership.

She has worked in program development, counseling, staff training, fundraising, grant writing, community outreach,
child-abuse prevention, life-skills education, and youth advocacy. Her work reflects a belief she has carried throughout her career:
children should not be defined by their circumstances, and families should not have to face difficult circumstances alone.

But Sharon’s story is not only about the people she has helped. It is also the story of what she herself had to survive.
