The Environmental Guy
Laughs and Laments
A Personal Journey Across America’s Environmental Divides
About the Book
For fifty years, Charles C. Reith has been the environmental guy disposing of radioactive waste, cleaning up toxic Superfund sites, developing solar and wind energy, and reforesting damaged landscapes across five continents. Whether in muddy work boots or the C suite, he has spent a career bridging gritty science with business leadership, moving from polluted wetlands in Mexico to devastated post Katrina New Orleans to desertifying sub Saharan Africa.
This is not a dry memoir. It is a lively, candid, and often hilarious journey across the environmental landscape of America full of characters, mishaps, and hard won wisdom. Laugh out loud as Reith explains his frog branding operation to a skeptical rancher, or describes earthworm sexuality to a customer at a garden fair. Share his grief as America’s best chance at environmental leadership is snatched away by a hanging chad in Florida. A book for anyone who loves the planet and loves a good story.
