Echo of My Heart — A Memoir in Poetry

About the Author

Sassa Aissou – Poet, Athlete, Dreamer

Born in Algeria, Sassa Aissou grew up where rhythm, light, and language pulsed like a second heartbeat. A celebrated athlete and Olympian, she carried her nation’s flag at the 2008 Beijing and 2012 London Games — embodying the endurance, courage, and grace of her ancestors.

Her path later led her to New York City, where she transformed her lifelong devotion to art and poetry into a new creative home. Through every word and brushstroke, she explores memory, belonging, and the divine rhythm that connects all hearts.

About the Book

Echo of My Heart – A Memoir in Poetry

Echo of My Heart is a memoir in poetry tracing an extraordinary journey across continents, cultures, and identities. Through lyrical verse and luminous imagery, Sassa Aissou opens a window into a life shaped by migration, memory, endurance, and love.

Born in Algeria, she grew up where rhythm and language beat like a second heart — a pulse that carried her from the warmth of North Africa to the world stage as an Olympic athlete, and eventually to the heart of New York City, where she now lives as a poet, artist, and mother.

Origin of the Golden Echo (Oil on Canvas, 2025)
Where words become color and rhythm turns to light — The Echo Collection invites viewers into Sassa Aissou’s poetic world in visual form.

The centerpiece, “Origin of the Golden Echo,” radiates the essence of her creative philosophy: a luminous heart emerging through layers of gold, symbolizing the harmony between emotion, endurance, and rebirth. Each brushstroke mirrors the spiritual resonance found in her writing — a continuation of the same pulse that beats through her memoir Echo of My Heart.

Crafted in oil on canvas, this work captures not just an image, but an experience a visual prayer of light, silence, and reflection.
