With the Passage of Time takes readers inside the nearly three-decade career of James G. Magee, a United States Marine infantry officer whose professional journey consistently placed him “off the usual path” of traditional Marine officer assignments.

From his earliest combat experiences in Vietnam, Magee’s abilities were recognized as unusual for his rank. Those abilities led to increasingly specialized responsibilities and opportunities within Marine and joint military commands.

As his career progressed from Second Lieutenant through the ranks of Major and Colonel, Magee became involved in assignments that were rarely, if ever, given to his peers. Each new responsibility demanded the acquisition of specialized knowledge, the development of professional expertise, and the ability to apply those skills in complex military environments.
